Accounting & Manufacturing Software Training

Accounting and Manufacturing Software Training

The concept of blended learning:

Blended learning is “blending” a variety of training methods into a program to optimize the training experience and minimize cost for the end user.   It’s an evolving concept that gained a lot of ground during the pandemic when not as much on-site training could be done. This led to development of new methods and materials as the concept evolved.

For an overview of the concept see Microsoft Word – proceedings_WKS1.rtf (ceur-ws.org)

Let’s take Sage X3 as an example.    There are several training options available to learn Sage X3.

  • Sage University offers course that are bundled in your subscription at no charge
  • The Sage X3 implementation material includes planning tools that lay out the curriculum
  • The Sage X3 implementation material includes standard operating procedure sheets that can be tailored into your companies personal training and procedure manuals.
  • There are numerous third-party videos and hint sheets available to help with initial training and training of new employees.
  • The Sage X3 pilot run, while intended as proof of concept, also provides an additional opportunity for training.
  • The old standby is hands-on walk-through training, both on site and remotely.

Software Generation’s objective is to use all available resources effectively to provide the most appropriate training in the least disruptive manner at the lowest cost.

  • Effective training
  • Least disruption to your staff and operation
  • Lower Cost

How do we do that?

Here is an example of a simple class plan to introduce the end user to Sage X3 screens and navigation:

  1. Sage provides the basic training as included in your Sage X3 subscription
    • The course is “Introduction to Sage X3” and it take a half hour broken into 4 short sessions with some limited interaction
      • This MUST BE SCHEDULED. Even though each individual can watch these on their own, if you don’t schedule it, it won’t happen.
      • It’s monitored so folks can ask questions even at their own pace.
    • This is followed IMMEDIATELY by hands on training with the individual entering a quote.
      • The instructor walks through the quote as each individual enters the quote and prints it.
      • Questions are answered on the fly.
      • The instructor can monitor as each individual enters their quote because they will show up on the open quote left list.

This is very limited but good enough for an introduction to Sage X3.  It uses two of our resources to maximize the training experience.

These are the kind of training programs we put together for Sage X3.    We have developed the outlines of these pieces and we optimize the use of available resources to train your people.

Let us put together a program to match your needs.   Email me at:

Sage Pro and Alere Training

Software Generation has a full, flexible, traditional training programs for accounting and manufacturing software for Sage Pro and ALERE customers on the setup and use of the accounting and manufacturing software. Our goal is to ensure you get bottom-line results from your system as quickly as possible with this thorough training program.

Software Generation pioneered low-cost lecture style training for large groups, then shifted to inexpensive and even free internet training and now brings you free video training on your schedule.  We offer hands-on training but it can be very expensive if all employees, managers and staff are trained together or individually either on-site or off-site.

While we adhere to the concept of “training the trainer”, we supplement the training with video’s available to all employees on their schedule.  In turn, these trained individuals can lead the remainder of the employees who need to along the path to understanding how to use the software, focused on their required tasks.

Training options include:
